Wind power policy gets final touches

In all, the Telangana state government wants to have 4,000 MW of solar power generation by March 2019

Hyderabad: After the solar power policy, the Telangana State government is all set to come out with an investment-friendly Wind Power Policy by the month-end.  Energy secretary Arvind Kumar said that final touches are being given to the policy.
 
Meanwhile, independent private power producers have urged the government to speed up issuance of Letter of Intent (LOI) to companies in connection with setting up of solar plants.
 
The TS government is going in for 2,500 MW of solar power for which LOIs would be issued shortly, officials told the company representatives. In all, the TS government wants to have 4,000 MW of solar power generation by March 2019.
 
A meeting with the power producers is also being convened shortly by the government to take their feedback and make changes necessary to make the solar power policy more investment friendly, the official said.
