Centre’s bias against TS glaring: Telangana Rashtra Samithi

 

Speaking to the media at the Telangana Bhavan here, the MP said that despite the AP Reorganisation Act specifically mentioning it, the Central government has not taken any step so far for creation of a separate High Court for AP. 

 

The MP wondered why the Centre was silent on granting Special Category Status to Telangana state, why it was not granting national project status to Pranahita-Chevella project, and why special incentives for industries were not granted to the new state.  She said that so far, no coal linkage has been provided to NTPC.

 

“While the Centre sanctioned '2,000 Crore for Amavarati capital city, no funds were allotted to the Musi beautification project. Though the Centre has been requested to grant 6,000 km of new roads and development of existing roads in Telangana state, Union minister Nitin Gadkari has only agreed to 1,200 km of road, a clear discrimination against Telangana state by the Centre,” Ms Kavitha said. 

 

She said that requests from Telangana state government to set up a steel factory at Bayyaram in Khammam, coach factory and new railway zone at Kazipet were not considered by the Centre. 

 

The MP said that despite the TS government being qualified to raise loans from external agencies, the Centre has not taken any decision on raising the FRBM limit from 3 to 3.5 per cent thereby causing hindrance to the development of State. 

 

She said state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, instead of accusing the TRS government, should try to bring pressure on the Central government and see funds and projects that Telangana state is entitled to, are granted without delay.
