Hyderabad: Revenue officials are unable to trace nearly 300 acre of land that was allotted to Deccan Infrastructure Land Holdings Ltd (DIL) on the city’s outskirts. TS government in August had cancelled an allotment of 5,000 acre to DIL, a state government entity. The allotment was done by the YSR government in 2007 on the city’s outskirts covering Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Medak districts to take up real estate development.

However, the lands were lying unutilised due to slowdown in the realty sector. Officials, who initiated the process to take over these lands following cancellation of the allotment by the TS government, found that nearly 300 acres had been encroached upon and could not be found in the survey numbers as per the revenue records. As per revenue records, 126 acre was allotted to DIL in Aziznagar in Moinabad mandal but the land survey indicated that only 66 acre was available and the remaining 60 acre had been encroached upon. Officials could thus put up government boards only on 66 acreS.

Similarly, in Rajendranagar mandal, while 41 acre was allotted, only 21 acre could be located as the remaining 20 acre is under encroachment. Worse still is the situation in Nadergul in Saroornagar mandal, where the entire 197 acre that was allotted was found to be encroached upon. In Keesara mandal too, the entire 10 acre that was allotted was found to be encroached upon.

Revenue officials have referred the issue to the government and are awaiting directions on how to go about regarding these encroached lands.
“The report on encroachments was submitted to the CCLA (chief commissioner of land administration). The Chief Secretary has been apprised of the issue and a decision on the future course of action will be taken in the next meeting of the State Land Management Authority. Revenue officials also took up the issue with the CM, who asked officials to explore options of invoking the Land Grabbing Prohibition Act and legal courses of action,” said sources in CCLA.
