Taking the selfie craze to a whole new level, the government’s “My Stamp” initiative has got a major boost. Now that you can get your own personalised stamps for '300 while sending letters and parcels, people are gung-ho about giving a personal touch to their posts.

Working professional Susheel George, who has tried it out, says, “There’s a certain sentimentality attached to getting a handwritten note and if you get a personal stamp from that person, it makes it even better. Though I’m not a selfie person, it would surely get the younger generation interested. My wife and I like sending personal mementos to each other and this one is pretty good.”

The Secunderabad post-office has sold about 2,000 stamps till date. Srinivas Rao, deputy postmaster at Secunderabad post office, says, “We’ve got quite a good response from companies, the military, social groups and others, who want to send out customised stamps to commemorate special occasions. Sometimes, we get bulk orders from companies so we also give a 10 to 20 per cent discount.”

You can also put your company’s logo, special quotes or your pet’s photos on the stamp. All you have to do is carry the physical copy of the photo in a pen drive. Ravi Vadlamani, a former Rotary Club governor, says, “We had used these stamps for our current Rotary theme and it was very well-received. In this age of emails and text messages, this will help in reviving the snail mail.”
