The humble kitchen storage container finally gets a new design

FoldFlat food containers are designed with origami and can fold to save space

Plastic food containers are best for storing leftovers. But when it comes to storing the containers themselves, you will know how cumbersome it gets. Unless they fit one into the other, plastic storage containers occupy more space when they are not used. This is where a UK-based Inventor Ben Strange was frustrated and managed to give a new life, err – design, to the humble old plastic storage container.

FoldFlat is now finally out of the prototype kitchen and will be launching on November 3, 2015. The aim of Ben is to unclutter your kitchen cabinet and store the containers that ‘folds’ itself inside its own lid.

Ben took a trick out of the origami book and designed the regular plastic container in a form that it can fold itself into its own lid. This helps saving a huge amount of space when the containers are not in use.
