HyderabadThe LRS/BRS study committee, headed by minister Talasani Srinivas Rao, had earlier recommended August 31, 2015, as the cut-off date when it had submitted the report to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. However, after consultations with ministers and officials, the Chief Minister extended the cut-off date to October 28, 2015, the day on which he approved the report.

Originally, the TRS government had proposed June 2, 2014, as the cut-off date, when Telangana state was formed.
However, officials brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that over 75,000 illegal buildings and 500 illegal layouts had come up in GHMC limits between June 2, 2014 and October 15, 2015, and if the cut-off date was not extended till October-end, the regularisation process would become incomplete as thousands of illegal buildings and layouts would continue to thrive even after the LRS/ BRS concluded.

They also cautioned that the regularisation process might get stuck in legal hurdles if the benefit was denied to some while extending the same to others. “Taking all these factors into consideration, the cut-off date has been extended to October 28, 2015, with the schemes coming into force from the first working day of November.

Moreover, the CM has directed that all should be given the chance for regularisation before initiating stringent measures against those who fail to regularise or still resort to illegal buildings and layouts,” Mr Yadav said.
