Thrissur: The cross-examination of the second prosecution witness in the Chandrabose murder case was completed in the trial court here on Saturday. Defence lawyer B. Raman Pillai took nearly six hours to cross-examine the witness K.A. Ajeesh and pointed out several omissions and contradictions in his statements.

The third witness Baby, who was the security guard at the outer gate of the Sobha City residential apartment on the fateful day of January 29,  would be examined and cross-examined on Monday.

Ajeesh said  that the accused Mohammed Nisham had intentionally rammed his Hummer against victim Chandrabose, who was standing on the kerb of the fountain at the apartment, and in the impact,  he was thrown  away by a few distance.

Later, after dragging Chandrabose into his Hummer, Nisham continued his assault on the victim at the parking lot of the apartment as well, Ajeesh said.

Ajeesh, who is guard-cum-driver at Sobha, said that while he took Chandrabose to the hospital in the ambulance after the incident, the victim was  drenched in blood and  half conscious. He  asked for some water to drink.

Special public prosecutor C.P. Udyabhanu said that there was nothing substantial in the claim of the defence that there were several contradictions in the earlier statement of the witness  to the police and magistrate  compared to  what he said during the examination in the trial court.
