Hyderabad: The Kapu community is up in arms against the AP government for not fulfilling its poll promises. Protests are increasing in the Godavari districts and spreading to other areas of the Kapu-dominated coastal belt. The community is demanding reservations and special funds for its development.

Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has given an ultimatum to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that stating that if the poll promises are not fulfilled, he would start a protest.

BJP MLC Somu Veerraju, who hails from the Kapu community, asked why Mr Naidu had not implemented his promise of releasing Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of the community.

Kapu youth and organisations are conducting rallies in several towns, mostly in the Godavari districts.

Mr Padmanabhan said, “By the end of the December, Kapus should be included in BCs list. The government should immediately release the Rs 1,000-crore package.”
