RajahmundryThe BJP-led NDA government is likely to announce a special package worth about Rs 2 lakh crore to Andhra Pradesh during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Visakhapatnam to inaugurate the expansion work of the steel plant in January.

BJP leaders said that by the time Mr Modi visits Vizag, the ongoing elections in Bihar, which got a Rs 1.25 lakh crore package from the Centre, would be over and there may not be any major issue if the Centre announces a package to AP. They were also confident that the Centre would announce the setting up of a railway zone at Visakhapatnam during the same time.

BJP state co-ordinator P. Raghu Ram said, “We are expecting that the Prime Minister will visit AP in January carrying good news for the people. We expect a financial bonanza for the state.” On the other hand, the BJP is coming up with plans to strengthen its base in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State.

It’s national committee and state-level committees will be formed by January. The
national president, Amit Shah, will be officially elected by the party leaders for a period
of three years in the coming elections and so is the case with both AP and TS where new state presidents and office bearers will be elected for a period of three years. Party leaders say that once the elected bodies are in place, they will initiate a series of measures to strengthen the party to prepare it to face the next elections.
