Telangana contributes soil for Andhra Pradesh’s Capital
The soil and water were taken in Kalasams
GUNTUR: The people of Telangana are offering soil and water from various parts of the state for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of AP’s new capital Amaravati.
Water and soil collected from the place where the Sabari and the Godavari merge, the Rama temple at Bhadrachalam and other areas were taken to Amaravati by Malkajgiri MP Ch. Malla Reddy, Jubilee Hills MLA M. Gopinath and other leaders. The soil and water were taken in Kalasams.
Apart from the political leaders, women from Khammam and other districts of Telangana State have presented pitchers containing water and soil pitchers.
Mr Malla Reddy said political differences are common but when it comes to public welfare, all the Telugu people should stand united. He said that with the construction of a world class capital, the pride of Telugus would spread worldwide.
Mr Gopinath said, “We are Indians first and our culture is unity in diversity so the people of Telangana are seeing the Amaravati ceremony as a celebration of the Telugu people of the two states.”
He said the Telangana people had voluntarily collected water and soil, which reflected Telugu unity. He said the water and soil were brought to Amaravati after prayers were conducted in religious places.
Ms N. Padma and Ms S. Lakshmi from Bhadrachalam said the construction of a new capital was a holy event, and they were lucky to participate in it.
They said they would not have another occasion to participate in a similar ceremony. They had brought water and soil from the Sabari-Godavari sangamam.
Mr B. Rammohan and others from Nalgonda said that TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was joining the Amaravati ceremony shunning political differences and they were also following the ‘unity in diversity’ concept.
The water and soil pitchers from Telangana were displayed at the venue at Nagarjuna University and later shifted to Uddandarayunipalem in which Telangana State people also participated.
