Fixing errors in ration cards put on hold
The basic records for this process had not been made available with the respective ration shops
KOZHIKODE: With the Election Commission appointing employees of the civil supplies department on election duty for the upcoming local body polls, procedures for enabling ration card holders in Kerala to correct mistakes in cards has gone haywire.
Even before the declaration of elections, the basic records for this process had not been made available with the respective ration shops.
Nearly 2,000 employees of the civil supplies department including those on deputation have been appointed for election duty at various centers in the state.
Renewal of cards was initiated with the support of government agencies through CDIT, Akshaya and Kudumbashree, but according to the officials here, since the employees had been deputed for election duty, the procedures for ration card correction had been halted.
