HyderabadCity residents, who are leaving for their hometowns will have to be alert while leaving valuables at home. New gangs with local informants have entered the city to rob closed houses during holidays, police said. The police has asked people going out of station to alert neighbours or the police while leaving. House owners must move valuables to secure locations, police said.

The burglaries and robberies in the city last month has pointed to the involvement of gangs from Maharashtra, Karnataka and North India.  Police said that the gangs are likely to rob houses and apartments located on the outskirts. Colonies in LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, Balanagar, Shamshabad, and other areas in Cyberabad have proved vulnerable.

The last few days of the Bathukamma festival and Dasara will be the time to look out for, police said. “Night patrolling has been increased in residential areas. Crime parties are also on the job to gather information about potential criminals,” said LB Nagar DCP Tafseer Iqbal.
