Gang stabs travel agent to death in Chandrayangutta area

The murdered man was identified as Syed Qutubuddin

Hyderabad: A travel agent was brutally murdered on Sunday in the Chandrayangutta area. The killers attacked the man with a wooden plank and stabbed him on his stomach and chest. The incident happened when the deceased, his nephew and some friends were going to see an open plot in the Bandlaguda area. 
 
The murdered man was identified as Syed Qutubuddin. Police said Qutubuddin, 59, was a resident of Old Malakpet. He was running a travel agency at Paigah Palace in the Basheerbagh area. Qutubuddin who divorced his first and second wives was staying with his third wife Farheen. 
 
Farheen divorced her first husband and married Qutubuddin four years ago. They were staying together along with Farheen’s kids from her first marriage in Hafeez Baba Nagar. 
 
One of his nephews Md Abdul Rasheed came to him and expressed a desire to buy some land for constructing a house. On Sunday night, Qutubuddin, Rasheed and four friends were going to Bandlaguda area to see the plot on their bikes. Suddenly two bikers came from behind and intercepted the bike driven by Qutubuddin. 
 
"The pillion rider got down and stabbed Qutubuddin seven times on his stomach and chest. Meanwhile, the other biker got down and hit Qutubuddin with a wooden plank that was lying on the road,” said Chandrayangutta inspector N. Ramarao.
 
Meanwhile, four others came on two bikes and chased his nephew and friends who tried to rescue him. Passersby who noticed the incident gathered at the spot, but they were also chased away.
 
"Many people gathered there. But the attackers threatened them with knives and told them to disperse. They fled after killing Qutubuddin. We are trying to establish the reason for the murder," added the inspector.
 
A case of murder was registered and the body was handed over to the family.
