CPM reviews poll preparations
The meeting gave directions to all district committees to put the entire cadre into campaign mode from Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state committee on Saturday expressed satisfaction over the early selection of candidates and the headstart in campaigning compared to the rival fronts, for the forthcoming local bodies poll.
The state committee meeting held at the AKG Centre here reviewed the preparations for the polls in all 14 districts. The meeting gave directions to all district committees to put the entire cadre into campaign mode from Sunday.
The state wide campaign of the party would be led by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, CPM politburo members Pinarayi Vijayan, M A Baby, state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. From the party Centre, politburo member S Ramachandran would be in charge of the campaign.
The state committee has directed the leaders to ensure that along with political issues, the day to day problems of the people incuding price rice, lack of local level development, non availability of essential commodities in government stores and poor infrastructure facilities.
The committee also discussed the SNDP-BJP tie-up and attempts of the combine to put up joint common candidates.
