KOZHIKODE: CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday lashed out at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy saying he was trying to ensure the continuity of his regime by supporting an unholy alliance between the  SNDP and the BJP with the blessings of the RSS to weaken  the Left.

Addressing the media here,  Mr Vijayan said that the state was going to witness a Chandy-Vellapally-RSS alliance. But the secular mindset of the state would defeat it, he asserted.

“Oommen Chandy has a soft corner towards the  RSS and the Congress-League-BJP alliances in the past had resulted from his soft corner,” he added.

“It is due to this that Oommen Chandy remains silent whenever there is  criticism in the UDF against Vellapally.   He was not criticised sharply even though he showered abuses at KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran,” he added.

Referring to the pro-RSS line of Mr Chandy, Mr  Vijayan said that Mr Chandy had even defied the Congress national leadership by laying the red carpet for the Adani group at Vizhinjam.

“Mr Oommen Chandy knows well that it is tough for the strife-ridden UDF to win an election.  The internal bickerings among major UDF constituents--Congress, Indian Union Muslim League and Kerala Congress—have  weakened the UDF,” he said.

“Mr Chandy has been promoting the SNDP in the past for his own political ends  and this alliance is a result of his last ditch efforts to remain in power,” he added.

“The Vadakara and Beypore models where the Congress, League and BJP alliance fought the elections against the LDF, were  just an experiment for the larger model which we are witnessing now,”  he said and added that Mr Chandy hoped that the Left could be weakened by the new political party of the SNDP being formed with the blessings of the RSS and Mr Chandy .

Mr Vijayan said that the voters of the state, who  are aware of the vicious schemes of Mr  Chandy,  would vote for the LDF to register their protest against the pro-fascist agenda.

CPM district secretary P. Mohanan also was present at the press conference.
