Lucknow: An 11-year-old girl who has taken a vow of silence for the past eight years is now determined to take ‘samadhi’. The girl from Agra has not uttered a word since she was three years old.

Her father, a teacher, said that his daughter was three years old when their village faced a drought situation. “She started praying in the village and then told the villagers to organise a ‘Bhagwad Path’ and a ‘Bhandara’ (community feast). As soon as the villagers agreed to do so, it began raining. My daughter took a vow of silence and has not spoken a word since then,” he said.

About a week ago, the girl wrote on a piece of paper that she would now take ‘Samadhi’ and she should be bathed in milk and ‘gangajal’. As soon as the news spread, people from even the nearby villages started gathering here and started offering milk and gangajal.

The local police came to know and intervened to stop the event. The girl has now informed her parents that she will take ‘samadhi’ in November and no forces will be able to prevent her. However, the police is keeping a watch on the developments to ensure no untoward incident takes place.
