Pakistan may offer olive branch
Mr Sharif will stress the need for resumption of dialogue to ensure peace in the region
Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to offer an olive branch to India while addressing the United Nations General Assembly Summit on September 30 to promote peace, officials said.
Mr Sharif will stress the need for resumption of dialogue to ensure peace in the region. The Prime Minister wanted New Delhi to give up animosity towards Islamabad, stops violations along the Line of Control and ceases sponsoring terrorism on the soil of Pakistan.
The Kashmir issue will prominently figure in the address of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and he will put across meaningful proposals for normalisation of ties with India as far as relations with it are concerned, he said.
The address of Mr Sharif in the United Nations would highlight Pakistan’s position on issues including the cause of the people of Palestine and oppressed in other parts of the world.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, army chief General Raheel Sharif said continuous ceasefire violations at LoC and the Working Boundary by the Indian forces were an unsuccessful attempt to distract Pakistan from its fight against terrorism.
