Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced 93 new schemes at an estimate of Rs 136.83 crore for police and fire and rescue services departments.  

The new proposals look at better equipping the force, with newer gadgets and better technology to keep crimes under check. From night vision binoculars, digital voice recorders, new reinforced helmets,  better lathis to portable jammers and high frequency mobile sets, the Tamil Nadu police is all set for a makeover.
