Sreenivasan to revisit Rafi’s evergreen music in Ceylon Cinema
The film looks at the war between the music of yore and the present generation music
The upcoming film Ceylon Cinema promises to be a real treat for all Mohammad Rafi fans. Shedding more light about the film’s storyline, director M Vineesh says, “This is a film that will bring back the evergreen songs of the 50s and 60s. Many of the old timers would remember the radio station called ‘Ceylon Station’ that used to beam Hindi songs through which Malayalis became familiar with the songs of Rafi. There was a man called Ceylon Bappu who used to repair radios and was a hardcore fan of Rafi so much so that he named his son Rafi Mohammad. The son, when he grew up did not want this name. The film looks at the war between the music of yore and the present generation music. The film also explores what real music is.”
Sreenivasan will play the role of Ceylon Bappu and others in the cast include Chemban Vinod and Kalabhavan Shajon among others. The female lead is yet to be decided upon and the locations for the film will be Mumbai and Kozhikode.
