Keralite woman among 107 people killed in Mecca mosque accident

Sources said that Moomina had called her children on Friday evening

The governor of Mecca region, Prince Khaled al-Faisal, has ordered an investigation into the incident and was heading to the mosque, the official @makkahregion account on Twitter said.

Kochi: The External Affairs Ministry has confirmed that one Keralite was among the 107 people who were killed in  an accident in Mecca's Grand Mosque on Friday.

According to Indian Hajj Mission,   Moomina Ismail, 29,  wife of Muhammad Ismail,  Palakkad,  died in the accident.  

Moonima and Muhammad Ismail, who also sustained injuries in the accident, had  gone to Mecca through a private Hajj operator.

They had left  for the  pilgrimage on September 8.  Ayisha Mariam, Ashib and Ansheeb, their children,  are students of Palakkad Bharath Matha School.

Ismail was conducting poultry business in Tamil Nadu and they came to Palakkad for better education and business purposes in May this year.

According to Moomina's relatives,  Ismail had gone for tea leaving Moomina in  a waiting room when the incident happened. Ismail  called up the relatives confirming the news.

Moomina belongs to  Thathamangalam. Sources said that Moomina had called her children on Friday evening.

Palakkad MP M.B. Rajesh and Palakkad MLA Shafi Parambil visited the family.
