Rs 4.56 lakh to study airport feasibility study

The Rites Limited, a consultant company would study and submit the feasibility report to the government

Khammam: The State government sanctioned Rs 4.56 lakh to take up pre-feasibility study for development of an Airport in Kothagudem in Khammam district. For that, GO no. 42 was issued on Monday and it is mobilisation fee including service tax.

The Rites Limited, a consultant company would study and submit the feasibility report to the government. Kothagudem, a coal town in Telangana is fast growing towns and TRS MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao is working for bringing an Airport in Kothagudem.

There is every possibility that the town will be made as district headquarters to the new district to be formed soon. The government is identified 1600 acre in Paloncha  mandal for the Airport.

There were several mega industries surrounding Kothagudem such as SCCL, KTPS, Bharat Heavy Water Plant, ITC-BPL, Navabharat Ferro Alloy and NMDC’s sponge iron factory. At present, Bhadradri Power Plant is coming up at Aswapuram. (eom)
