Fervour marks Teachers’ Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: Teachers’ Day was celebrated across all the educational institutions in the city with gaiety and fervour. Tributes were paid to the Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, which is observed as Teachers’ day. Students of various institutions felicitated their teachers, who play a pivotal role in shaping their lives.

As part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated a book fair and science exhibition in Andhra University engineering college grounds in which school students across the district displayed their scientific ideas through their projects.

As a mark of respect to its earlier Vice-Chancellor, whose birthday came to be observed as Teach-ers’ Day, Andhra Unive-rsity had celebrated Teachers’ Day in a grand manner. Speaking on this occasion, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.S.N. Raju said that it is a very proud moment for the university to have had  Dr Sarvepalli Radhakri-shnan as a vice-chancellor and asked the professors to enrich the moral values and scientific knowledge of the students. Later, Prof. Raju felicitated some professors with best teacher awards. Prof. Raju and other university officials paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Radha-krishnan at Arts College. AU Rector E.A. Narayana, Registrar V. Umamahe-swara Rao and others were present during this programme.

Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at Gitam University. The day began with surprises for all the faculty members and spread an aura and energy of happiness and smiles on the campus. Students showed love, affection, appreciation and gratitude for all the teachers.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Subrahmanyam and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Harinarayana and others paid floral tributes to Sarvepalli Radhakri-shnan’s statue at Knowledge Resource Centre.
