THIRUVANNAMALAI: The Tamil Nadu government should take steps to implement prohibition in the state, step by step, Premalatha Vijayakanth, wife of the DMDK’s founder and actor, Vijayakanth. 
 
Premalatha pointed out that while the AIADMK government provided gold for manglasutras for marriages of people, it had not taken into consideration the deaths of the many persons due to consumption of alcohol, which resulted in many married women become widows. 
 
She said that the DMDK party would organise agitations, if steps were not taken by the ruling government, warned the party leader Premalatha, at the party's ’Makkalukkaga Makkal Pani’ meeting organised at the Polur grounds, near here, on Monday.
 
She said, if DMDK formed its ministry in the state, it would first sign the order to implement prohibition in the state. She said her husband's hands’ colour had turned ''red by giving 
away all that he had been earning and donating them to people. The DMDK leader said de-silting of tanks and lakes in the district had not been carried out. She also said, that her husband's demand to construct a college for women had not been carried out by the government.
 
In his speech, DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth said that power cuts in the state was still prevailing and State Electricity minister Natham Viswanathan had been falsely propagating that the power cut in the state had gone out.
 
Vijayakanth distributed various welfare measures like bobby machine,cotton plants, insecticides sprayer to few weavers who, among others, attended the meeting.
