Hyderabad: A day ahead of the AP Legislative Assembly session, the Telugu Desam (TD) launched a vitriolic attack on Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and said he would be held responsible if the session did not go off smoothly.

TD leaders were asked by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to target the YSRC chief in order to send a strong signal that the ruling party would take on the only Opposition party in the Assembly if it tries to create a ruckus over special status and other issues.

Labour minister K. Atchannaidu alleged that the YSRC chief was “resorting to shava rajakeeyalu (politics over the dead)”. Chief whip K. Srinivasulu asked YSRC leaders to change their mindset and “behave with dignity” in the Assembly.

He said the Telugu Desam was ready to answer any issue brought up by the YSRC, and was ready for a discussion on special category status.

Telugu Desam’s Council member Y.V. Babu Rajendra Prasad said, “Jagan should decide whether he wants the portrait of YSR or people’s issues (referring to the removal of the former Chief Minister’s portrait from the Assembly lounge. Jagan is not interested in people’s issue and his focus is only on stalling the Assembly to save his skin from all his misdeeds.
