80’s stars still young at heart

The 80s Stars Reunion, the south Indian film industry’s elite club, was formed by actresses Lissy and Suhasini for stars who broke new ground and created a buzz in the south Indian cinema of the 1980s. Its sixth edition was celebrated last Saturday at Nina Reddy’s guest house at ECR.
This year, Kushboo too joined Lissy and Hasini in hosting the event. The theme was Moulin Rouge, which explains the domination of the colour red. The beach house was decorated in a French style, laden with red, gold and neon furnishings.
With the new addition being Jackie Shroff, Poonam Dhillon, Swapna, Jayasudha, Rehman, Parvathy, Sathyaraj and Bhagyaraj this year, the other guests included Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Venkatesh, Prabhu, Mohan, Sarath Kumar, Naresh, Pratap Pothen, Jairam, Suman, Rajkumar, Banuchander, Sumalatha, Sarita, Radha, Radhika, Ramya Krishnan, Poornima, Menaka, Jaishree, Revathy, Jayasudha, and Shobana.
The guests were shown a 10 minute audio visual intro to the club, followed by a karaoke session. The dancing was kicked off with stars performing to Manali Trance. However, the highlight was Kushboo’s ‘lungi’ dance. The finale was a Broadway-like act where the men joined in to dance and jive as well. At the stroke of midnight, a special 80s-themed cake was cut.
