Tirumala: With the officials' timely actions, water supply to the two cottages in Tirumala was restored after some time but devotees suffered a lot waiting for more than three hours.

As the pumps experienced very low pressure due to steep decrease of water level in reservoir, the pumping system could not pump the water from reservoir to the tanks to supply to the cottages.

Varahaswamy guest house 1 and 2 did not get water due to very low pressure in water at the pumping station in the morning hours due to which the devotees who were in the guest house suffered a lot. The barbers in the mini Kalyanakatta which is located in Varahaswamy guest house also stopped tonsuring the devotees till water was restored. Devotees with children had a difficult time and there were frayed tempers and arguments all around.

After hearing about the problem at the guest houses, the EO directed the officials to supply water with ground water storage tanks. The engineering and other officials immediately supplied water by tankers to the sumps from where it has pumped to the cottages.

The engineering department officials said the problem occurred due to the shortage of water in reservoirs and inadequate pressure that did not allow motors to lift the water to the cottage which is located on a steep area in Tirumala. It is recurring problem, they added.
