Hyderabad: Another archaka created a sensation, this time at Chikkadpally, when he climbed the gopuram of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple and threatened to jump, pressing for the demands of temple priests who have struck work.

Mr Dinesh, an archaka at the temple, was participating in the strike when he suddenly climbed the gopuram and shouted slogans, demanding justice for priests and other temple staff.

“We are in the service of God. Can’t the government solve our long pending demands? Why this kind of discrimination?” the agitated archaka asked.  After much cajoling, he got down with the help of other temple staff.

Mr Dinesh is the second archaka after Mr Venkatesh of Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple at Keesaragutta to climb a temple gopuram.
