KSRTC driver dies at work, saves passengers

He alerted the conductor about chest pain and died within minutes

BENGALURU: A 54-year-old KSRTC driver died of heart attack while driving a bus, but managed to save the lives of more than 50 passengers near T Begur at Nelamangala on the city outskirts on Friday night.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Ramachandrappa and the incident happened while he was driving a bus  bound for Chitradurga. When the bus reached T Begur, Ramachandrappa suffered a massive cardiac arrest, but managed to stop the vehicle by the roadside.

He alerted the conductor about chest pain and died within minutes, before the conductor and passengers could arrange for any medical aid.

“There were more than 50 passengers on board when the incident took place. They were later sent in another bus,” the police said, adding that no case was registered in this connection.
