KochiThe National Investigation Agency on Wednesday informed Kerala High Court that it was planning to approach the High Court registrar seeking permission to conduct  in-camera trial of Wagamon SIMI  case at the High Court.

The NIA submitted this while opposing the bail plea of Mohammed Asif of Karnataka,  an accused in the case. Considering the NIA opposition,  the court refused to grant him bail,  but asked the agency to frame charges against him  in six months.

Mohammed Asif,  an MBBS student,  was arrested on August 13,  2009.  The petitioner contended that his grievances would be redressed if the agency completed the trial.

The court said that  it would not be proper to incarcerate the accused in jail indefinitely only on the ground that some of the other accused are involved in other cases registered  out of Kerala.

The prosecution case is that the accused 37 SIMI activists from different states came to Tangalpara at Wagamon and organised a secret camp from December 10, 2007 to December 12  to fight against the nation. The participants were imparted training in arms and ammunition.
