Mumbai locals find Rs 1,000 notes floating in sea at Gateway of India

Marine life in Mumbai's adjacent sea were in for a suprise when an unknown person threw a wad of cash into the water allegedly. The money ofcourse was of more use to those on land, hence a few locals decided to jump into the waters and show their daredevilry. 
 
Local fishermen spotted the money first which were said to be mostly Rs 1,000 notes and jumped across the wall to retrieve the cash. As word spread, people turned up from as far as Colaba and Cuffe Parade in search of the lost treasure. 
 
According to locals at 2 pm on Tuesday some person threw a bundle of cash in the sea and ran off. Several people including a local named Santosh Pawar got down into the water and found Rs 1,000. senior inspector of Colaba Vinay Gadgil said the police did not have any such information and it's a runmour. "Pawar was given a  warning and elt off as he got into the sea which is not allowed. He could have drowned," said  Mr Gadgil.
 
The next time you are at the seaside, be sure to keep a watch for lost treasures.
