Bengaluru: Man dies while cleaning sump, house owner held
The deceased has been identified as Vediyappan alias Palani, a resident of Annepalya
BENGALURU: Cottonpet police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 55-year-old worker at Rana Singhpet on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Vediyappan alias Palani, a resident of Annepalya.
According to the police, Palani and his two associates went to clean a sump at Mansoor Khan’s house in Rana Singhpet on Saturday morning. After a while, Palani, who was cleaning the sump, fell unconscious. Fearing something amiss, Palani’s associates fled the spot.
After sometime, Khan, who went to see the workers cleaning the sump, found nobody there. The sump lid was open and he saw Palani lying inside unconscious. He alerted his neighbours, who helped Khan to shift Palani to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Khan had kept the sump closed for a long time without filling it with water. Because of this, some poisonous gas got accumulated in the sump which claimed Palani’s life. Police have arrested Khan and registered a case against him under Section 304A of IPC.
