Lay off, daddies!

Neither Sonam Kapoor nor Shruti or Akshara Haasan were launched by their home banners

Anil Kapoor and Kamal Haasan may be superstar daddies but turns out their daughters are too fiercely independent to take any career-related help from their fathers. Neither Sonam Kapoor nor Shruti or Akshara Haasan were launched by their home banners. When the Kapoor sisters were ready with Khoobsurat, they had strictly forbidden Anil from pitching in on any level.

Anil’s close friend elaborates on the Kapoor sisters’ no-trespassing policy regarding their father.

“Both Rhea and Sonam  don’t want their star father’s participation in their careers. When Anupam Kher wanted

Anil Kapoor to accompany Sonam on the Anupam Kher Show, Sonam preferred to show up with her cousin Arjun Kapoor. Rhea had even asked Anil to stay away from the marketing and promotion of Khoobsurat. So he had no choice but to stay away.”

Kamal’s predicament is similar. “Both Shruti and Akshara are forging their own careers without my assistance. They know I am there for them. But that’s it. I wouldn’t dare to offer them a role in a home production. I know I’ll be turned down,” says the doting father.

Other star-daughters who preferred not be launched by their fathers

Raveena Tandon refused to be launched by her father, producer Ravi Tandon. She chose producer G.P. Sippy’s Patthar Ke Phool instead. Ravi did launch Raveena’s brother Rajeev though.

Karisma Kapoor: Made her debut in Prem Qaidi, away from the home banner R.K. Films.

Kareena Kapoor: Made her debut in J.P. Dutta’s Refugee.

Kajol: Chose Rahul Rawail’s Bekhudi over her home banner.

Alia Bhatt: Shunned the Bhatts and went ahead with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.
