KOZHIKODE: Amid allegations  on the installation of E- toilet facility at various parts of the city spending lakhs of rupees, the  Kozhikode railway station authorities have  installed  yet another four sets of E-toilets from the same private company which installed them for the city corporation. The project had  failed  in the city when the corporation implemented almost 20 such  facilities at various parts.

The city corporation  is of the opinion that the public should be made aware of the facility before its installation.

“The city corporation wanted to install more such E-toilet facilities in the city if the first phase of the project was  a success,”  said B.K. Balraj, corporation secretary.

But  due to several technical reasons and lack of awareness and fear among the public on the use of the toilet, the project was  unsuccessful. Hence the corporation decided not to implement more such projects here, he  said.

The Kozhikode railway station authorities have pointed out that she-toilet will not  be a failure here as a clear instruction on its use has been jotted down before the users enter it.

The first she-toilet in Palakkad division was installed at Kozhikode. These toilets have been integrated with gender sensitive features like napkin vending machines and napkin incinerators.
