Jodhpur will be star-studded this month. The multi-cultural cast of Gurinder Chadha’s new film Viceroy’s House will get together for the film’s shoot to recreate the story of Lord Mountbatten and his wife Edwina’s last few days in India before the British rule ended.

The very talented British actor Hugh Bonneville, who has played a host of real-life characters such as John Bayley and Sir Christopher Wren, plays Lord Mountbatten in the film while Gillian Anderson of X Files plays his wife Edwina.

The film also casts Huma Qureshi with Manish Dayal in a romantic turn. Manish, if you remember, played the Indian chef in France in Lasse Hailstrom’s well-received The 100 Foot Journey. Apart from the two, there’s Om Puri and Sarah Jane Dias.

The historical film has been scripted by Gurinder along with her husband Paul Berges and Moira Buffini.
