ADILABAD: Veda pundits are conducting Atyagnishtoma Maha Somayagam at Basar to protect nature from pollution and also for loka kalyanam. The Yagnam will begin on July 27 and will continue till August.

The Yaganam aims at cleansing the “Pancha Bhuthalu” of pollution, without using technology.  Instead, the yagnam will use one of the “panchabhutham” — agni (fire).

The Veda pundits believe soil is losing its fertility due to the use of chemicals and fertilisers that affect water, air and food.

As per ancient Vedas, the Atyagnishtoma Maha Somayagam will infuse life into nature. The oil extracted from Somalatha herbs will be used for the yagnam. Organisers say they are holding a yagnam for the first time at ancient Basar.
