ChennaiAfter three days of lacklustre competition, the first ‘unofficial’ Test between India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’ took a sharp turn and headed for an intriguing finish on Saturday when the hosts set a target of 240 in 55 overs. But what followed was an anti-climatic finish as the teams settled for a draw. When the players shook hands, Australia ‘A’ needed 79 off nine overs with six wickets in hand.

Amit Mishra’s twin strikes — in consecutive overs — to remove Travis Head (50 off 77 balls) and Cameron Bancroft (51 off 109 balls) put the breaks on the Aussies’ march.

Brief scores:
India ‘A’ 301 & 121/3 in 78.3 overs: (K.L. Rahul 29, A. Mukund Sandhu 40, C. Pujara 42, K. Nair 23, S. Iyer 33, Sandhu 2/27, O’Keefe 2-81, Stoinis 2-18) drew with Australia ‘A’ 268 & 161-4 in 46 overs (C. Bancroft 51, T. Head 50, N. Maddinson n.o. 37 Mishra 2-49).
