Hyderabad: There is heartening news for students and the unemployed in Telangana waiting for government job notifications. CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, finally approved job notifications on Saturday to fill 15,000 posts in 15 departments initially this year.

The maximum age limit to apply for these recruitment exams has been raised by 10 years from 34 years to 44 years to compensate students for the delay in issuing notifications. Reserved category students will get an additional five-year relaxation till 49 years and the physically-challenged by 10 years till 54 years. In-service employees too will get an additional five year relaxation.

It was also decided to implement the existing zonal system reservation norms as it is that were in force in undivided AP while filling posts since any changes at this stage would lead to legal complications delaying notifications further.

CM had promised to issue notifications for 25,000 posts in July while addressing a meeting in Secunderabad on June 2. However, there is no clarity on when the notifications for the remaining 10,000 posts would be approved. Officials sources in TSPSC said that raising the age limit would benefit over 10 lakh candidates in TS who have crossed 34 years during the past five years.

In the first phase, posts in agriculture, horticulture, medical and health, municipal administration, panchayat raj, power, police, fire, rural water supply, excise, commercial tax, stamps and revenue, roads and buildings, transport departments besides GHMC will be filled. SI and constable posts in the police department besides posts in the fire department alone comprise 8,000 vacancies.

Similarly, there are another 2,681 vacancies in power department and 4,300 posts altogether in other departments, which would be filled in the first phase this year. Barring police and power departments, all the vacancies in other departments would be filled by TSPSC by conducting recruitment exams. Police and power departments will recruit through their own recruitment boards.
