After delivering a slew of blockbusters like Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS), Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OK OK), director M Rajesh is awaiting the release of his Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga (VSOP), starring Arya and Santhanam. The director is quite sure that the film will be successful.

“It’s tough to make films that both family audiences and youth enjoy. The most important relationships in our lives after our family are friendships and love — youth relate the most to these two emotions. This is the reason friendship plays an important role in my films, and I’m am back with this theme! There are lots of expectations from the three of us — Arya, Santhanam and me after Boss Engira...,” smiles Rajesh. “The story revolves around Vasu and Saravanan, who are childhood friends — what happens when two girls enter their lives forms the crux of the story.

Today’s youngsters love  trolling. Both Arya and Santhanam troll each other throughout the film, and VSOP will take you back in time to the old good days you spent with your best friends. I was quite happy with the response I received from the trailer,” says Rajesh.  When asked why most of his films are light-hearted and have happy endings, he says he’s a positive person and his mind-set is reflected in his films, “I want the audiences to leave the theatre with a  smile on their face. Not every film needs to have a message. The entertainment factor matters more to me.” And how did he choose Arya and Santhanam for the film? “Well, Arya is a director’s delight and it’s easy to work with him. In real life, the both are best friends and they share a good rapport with each other, which just comes across well onscreen. It doesn’t seem like they are acting — it’s real,” he signs off.
