Amritha Meera Vijayan, IT engineer, dancer and now an actor, is busy with two upcoming movies, Action Hero Biju and Mea Culpa. Amritha, who is from Kozhikode, is excited about getting into tinsel town.

“I have been working in Bengaluru for the last three years. After watching my classical dance video, one of my friends suggested I meet director Abrid Shine. After the audition, he cast me in the movie Action Hero Biju produced by Nivin Pauly,” says Amritha.

Soon followed her next movie, Mea Culpa — an anthology of three stories — directed by debutant Akhil Jose. “I play the lead role in one of the stories. The shoot has started for both of the movies. It is a novel experience. I am enjoying it and feels like it is a major turning point for me,” she says.

Amritha started to learn classical dance at the age of five and has specialised in Bharatanatyam. She feels that dance has helped to hone her acting skills. “During the shoot with Nivin Pauly, I was nervous. It was an interesting experience. However, he made us feel comfortable while working with him. Because I had prior experience in shooting for my dance videos, I was not that scared of being in front of the camera,” she reminisces.

She is also in talks for a third project, in which Biyon is the hero. “I am getting lots of offers. But I have not decided whether to quit my job as IT professional. I think at present it is manageable. I have taken a wait-and-watch approach to know how my film career will turn out. Also, I would like to continue with my dance along with films,” she says.

Amritha thinks that her best experience she had so far in the film industry was working with Mammootty for a photo shoot. “It was a dream-come-true moment for me. I was highly inspired by his personality and it was an amazing experience. He was calm, cool and very helpful. I think it is a great experience for a fresher like me to work with him even for a photo shoot,” she adds.
