The work for setting up a battery of taps is still not initiated at Ramannagudem and Mullakatta

WarangalLackadaisical officials and contractors have delayed work related to the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled to begin on July 14. The deadline for completion of work was extended thrice so far but the work is still incomplete.

Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy who spoke to the collector recently, expressed dissatisfaction over the delay and extended the deadline to July 10. Even though the district  administration sounds confident about completing the work at three locations, Mullakatta, Ramannagudem and Mangapet within the next few days, ground level observations prove otherwise.

The work for setting up a battery of taps is still not initiated at Ramannagudem and Mullakatta. Changing rooms are yet to be constructed and toilets are only half ready. The work for constructing Gangamata temple at Mullkatta is incomplete.

It could take another week to complete construction and curing.  BT roads are still  not laid. As a result, the roads have either been washed away or have  become muddy. Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao has already made it clear that a team of ministers would inspect all the districts where  Pushkaralu is going to be held.
To add to the woes,, the water level in Godavari does not seem sufficient for devotees to take a holy dip. Rains during  the last week of June did bring a good amount of flood water to the
river. But with no rains in the past two weeks, the water level has  further depleted.

At present water can be found at a distance of about  one kilometre from the bathing ghats. This means the bathing ghats are redundant unless water is brought from other projects.
