CPM to fight BJP propoganda
The CPM attack has to be equally stinging and sharp on UDF and the BJP
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has asked its Kerala unit to go for a zero-tolerance policy against the ‘communal' politics of BJP which is trying to make inroads in the state.
The decision came at the end of a two-day politburo meeting in Delhi which discussed the Aruvikkara defeat and BJP's growth at the cost of LDF, at length.
Even though the state CPM leadership had tried to downplay the BJP factor saying it was just one of the reasons for the defeat, the central leadership believes that the saffron party required to be fought organisationally, ideologically and politically.
CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said that the party was aware of the agenda of communal polarisation being undertaken by the BJP in the state.
“We have decided to fight communalism. Ideological and organisational steps will be taken to ensure that people are not swayed by emotions. Such campaigns will be carried out across the state,” he said.
The BJP, which managed to increase its vote share in 150 of the 154 booths, has gained widely across the constituency mainly at the cost of CPM. The booth-wise pattern has clearly baffled the central leadership.
The CPM believes that going all out against Oommen Chandy on the one hand and leaving out BJP on the other could prove detrimental for the party in the longer run.
The CPM attack has to be equally stinging and sharp on UDF and the BJP. Moreover, the leadership says the BJP has campaigned extensively in Kerala and other parts of the country on CPM's decimation in Bengal.
But on the other hand the CPM has failed to expose the widespread corruption in the BJP ruled states particularly in Madhya Pradesh.
