Filmmaker Balakrishnan, known for his biopic Mudhalvar Mahatma, has restored yet another biopic Kamaraj-the Kingmaker with a digital makeover, and is releasing it this Friday. Shot in documentary style, the narration spans 60 years depicting the life and times of the great leader Kamaraj.

The restored version will have 20 fresh scenes with digitally enhanced sound and visuals. Filmmaker turned actor Samudhrakani has been roped in to essay the crucial role, through whom the film unfolds in a flashback mode.

Kani, who has not accepted remuneration for his role, paid tribute to the late leader recently at his house in the city. Talking about the film he said, “Today’s generations are not aware of the selfless leader that was Kamaraj. After I started working on the film, I learnt a lot of new things about him, some of which brought tears to my eyes. I feel I am blessed to have acted in a film like Kamaraj which is a significant one in my career.”
