UGC wants total information of universities on the Internet

Currently, very limited information is provided by colleges on their websites

The UGC has directed varsities to ensure that colleges put up information pertaining to faculty, facilities provided, research output, placement profile of the alumni, etc.
Hyderabad: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has once again asked all universities and colleges to display all relevant information on the institutions’ websites. UGC has given a long list of pertinent information that has to be displayed by all institutions on their websites for the benefit of students and parents.
 
The varsities have their task cut out for them as the regulator has even asked them to send “action taken” reports within a fortnight. Currently, very limited information is provided by colleges on their websites. The UGC has directed varsities to ensure that colleges put up information pertaining to faculty, facilities provided, research output, placement profile of the alumni, etc.
 
While varsities do put up profiles of faculty, many colleges just display the names. The UGC has now told universities that all institutions must display the profiles of their faculty members. 
 
“I request you to take appropriate action on the said points and action taken reports may be sent within 15 days,” UGC secretary Dr Jaspal Sandhu informed the varsities.
