BengaluruProbably fearing a drop in the seats it could win in north India after the spectacular show in 2014, BJP national president Amit Shah said the government in Delhi after five years would be based on the South India results.

Speaking at the launch of the Mahasampark Abhiyaan, a contact programme of newly enrolled members, Mr Shah said: “There will be six more such meetings in other regions. Before the 2014 elections, I, as party general secretary in charge of UP, used to say that the next government will be formed based on UP results. Now, I am telling you the government in Delhi after five years will be based on south India results.”

Kicking of the meeting, Mr Shah tried to give a pep talk to party functionaries. “Leaders like Jagannath Rao Joshi dedicated their life to the party. Before retiring for the day, you should introspect how much work you did for the party. You should dedicate five years of yours to the party. We are working in such a way that the party is built for the next 25 year,” he said.

He said that party had joined with the government to help implement social programmes like Beti Bachaao, Swachha Bharat and Namami Gange.
“Of the 24 programmes launched by the Modi government in the last 12 months, we joined hands to implement 14 of them. You have to work hard.”

He said that the party should have its own building in all district headquarters. A committee headed by Union minister and party functionary Piyush Goel is putting together a plan to network party offices. “Recently we had a national executive meeting here. Once connected, party district offices can watch live Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the national executive. That is the kind of network we are planning.”
