Digital India to cover 5,631 Gram Panchayats

Villages coming under these gram panchayats will be covered by the internet

Ballari: By December 2015, as many as 5,631 gram panchayats in the state will be incorporated into Digital India and villages coming under these gram panchayats will be covered by the internet.
 
According to Karnataka Telecom circle chief manager Mr P Nagaraju, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is introducing a faster internet service in rural areas to ensure that every citizen is equipped to get information at his fingertips. Speaking after launching the Wi-Fi facility at the famed Virupaksha temple at Hampi, Mr Nagaraju said that if the Digital India concept is to be realised, internet facility which is urban centric should be extended to rural areas and places of historic importance.
 
The Digital India concept aims at delivering broadband services to remote villages and helps people get all required information on their handsets. In Karnataka, as many as 330 places have been identified in 30 districts where wi-fi facility will be introduced.
