KCR to re-engineer water projects in Medak district

Mr Rao promised to reward the town with Rs 5 crore if it meets the target of plantations

HyderabadAs part of re-engineering major irrigation projects, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on  Saturday said he would lay the foundation stone for a new barrage at Kaleswaram in Karimnagar district to supply irrigation and drinking water to Medak district and parts of Karimnagar.
 
Speaking after participating on the second day of Haritha Haaram at Siddipet in Medak district, Mr Rao said the barrage would be built within three years and would divert Godavari water to Medak and Karimnagar districts. 
 
He also announced that a major irrigation project would be constructed at Tadkapalli near Siddipet with over 70 TMC ft capacity to store water diverted from the Godavari. Promising that Siddipet and Medak would be the headquarters for the two new districts, Mr Rao, who hails from Siddipet, said re-engineering major projects would make it possible to supply water to  the entire district. He said that he would offer gold crowns to two Shivalingams at the famous Kaleswaram temple, which is one of the ‘Tri-lingams’ of the region. He also said that Shamirpet would get an airport and Siddipet would be part of new railway line. Mr Rao promised to reward the town with Rs 5 crore if it meets the target of plantations.
