Chennai Corporation council meet to take up Amma theatres, other mega projects

Corporation looking to seek government permission to calculate estimation for the project

Chennai: The Chennai corporation’s first council meeting on Saturday, after Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa’s big win in the R K Nagar bypoll has raised expectations of new projects and schemes being announced and more funds allocated for existing ones.

In keeping with the budget announcement, six places had  been identified for constructing Amma Theatres  Basin Bridge Road in Royapuram Zone, Old Zonal Office in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar Zone, Ramapuram Bharathi Salai in Alandur, Kotturpuram Road in Teynampet and in South Usman Road and Sivagnanam Street in Kodambakkam Zone.

The council meet scheduled on Monday is expected to adopt a resolution seeking government permission to calculate estimation for the project, appointment of building design experts, to have project management consultants for the third party supervision and to execute the project. The corporation is also expected to take some mega projects to the next level by discussing it in the meeting.
