Traders hope Chandrababu Naidu’s stay will boost business

VIPs, public will visit city for government related works

The business community in Vijayawada, specially the hoteliers, have pinned their hopes on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's three-day-a-week administration from the city.

Chandrababu Naidu’s three-day-a-week administration from the city. This would boost business of all commercial establishments, including hotels where officials, legislators, politicians and others who come to the city to meet the CM and other ministers would stay.
 
According to Andhra Pradesh Hotels Association, at present city hotels have above 50 per cent occupancy and it may reach 90 per cent. Similarly, other business establishments may see an increase of 20-30 per cent in transactions. As per reports, CM N. Chandrababu Naidu will start his three-day administrative function from Vijayawada city from Vijaya Dasami.
 
Commercial establishments, including hotel industry, may be benefited by it, said Andhra Pradesh Hotels Association president Muttavarapu Srinivasa Babu. According to the association, the city has sufficient accommodation facilities. 
There are nearly 1,200 rooms in lodges costing up to Rs 600 and 600 hotel rooms costing between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 and 200 rented rooms are available in city hotels. New hotels are also being planned.
 
The occupancy rate is expected to shoot up to 90 per cent from the current 50 per cent. Several leaders and MLAs would stay in city hotels during their visit, added Srinivasa Babu. He said just like people of AP visited Hyderabad for several government and business related works, now people from 13 districts of AP would come to the city and stay in the hotels. Their stay would also help other establishments do brisk business. 
 
Other business establishments would also be benefited, said owner of a footwear shop D. Murali. He said that shops in the city would get business from outside who visit the place.
