KOZHIKODE: Nine CISF personnel who are wanted in connection with the Karipur airport violence case surrendered before the Kondotty CI’s office on Sunday.

The CISF personnel were accused of damaging public property during a clash with the airport staff at Kozhikode International Airport. Police had registered a case against the CISF personnel after verifying the CCTV visuals and CISF intelligence officials identified the culprits.

Kondoty police who is investigating the case had demanded the surrender of these personnel after the arrest of 11 other CISF jawans on similar charges.

The CISF then requested time till June 20 as they were finding it difficult to rotate duty due to staff shortage and the same was allowed.

All nine personnel appeared before Kondotty CI Santhosh B. on Sunday afternoon. The police said the accused will be produced before the Manjeri Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday and will seek their remand.

Meanwhile, the Kondotty police has intensified searches for three airport fire service personnel who have absconded.

The police tried to contact them on their mobile phones and found them switched off. “We will arrest them in another few days. Three of them have been missing and another is still under treatment,” Santhosh told DC.
