Mumbai: Filmmaker  and choreographer Remo D’Souza, whose new film ABCD2  was received well by audiences, has been mentoring American dancer-actress Lauren Gottlieb ever since she left her home in Arizona to be part of Remo’s debut  film ABCD in 2013. After that, Lauren enthralled the public with her perfect jhatkas and latkas on reality TV show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, which is where she caught Remo’s undivided attention, as he was a judge on the show.

Not surprising, then, that ABCD2 has Lauren in a role parallel to Shraddha Kapoor.  Lauren enters the plot in the second-half, but stays in the limelight till the end, sharing screen-space with Varun Dhawan.

Lauren’s role is clearly similar to Madhuri Dixit’s in Yash Chopra’s  Dil Toh Pagal Hai. In that film, Madhuri played a skilled dancer who is brought in by Shah Rukh Khan to replace the injured Karishma Kapoor in a dance troupe.

In ABCD 2, the same situation is recreated: Shraddha Kapoor suffers a leg injury and Lauren steps in. Though Remo reluctantly admits that Lauren’s role shares a resemblance to Madhuri’s, Lauren is very happy about her role being inspired by Madhuri.

The actress says that the response to her role has been very encouraging. “I haven’t yet signed anything after ABCD2.” she says, “I have my fingers crossed. But I haven’t really gotten a script that I want to do.”
